Dudley .... meet Eunice

It's been a wild and wooly few days here in the south. We had a visit from storm Dudley, followed by the lovely full Snow Moon, and now we wait for the 'worse storm in 20 years' ..... Eunice!

Thankfully she hit land later than they thought, so the morning puppy walk was perfectly safe, but as the morning progresses she grows in power and I can see the trees swaying through the kitchen doors as I type this journal.

Notice I've changed from blog, to JOURNAL.

I received an email from a lovely company yesterday - Made By Coopers - and saw on their website that they have a journal section. This seems a much more gentler word than BLOG.....so much calmer and relaxing. So, I've adopted it! I don't write in this section very often as most of my readers receive a newsletter every couple of weeks instead, but for newbies, having some musings on an artist website is always a good thing!

Regarding the email I received, I am looking into this beautiful range of products to stock in my treatment room. Before you say, 'but you're an artist, I thought you were slowing down your therapies?'..... Yes, I am, but I am becoming busy with new clients and many now wanting more healing and nurturing treatments - massage, reiki and LaStone. So, this could work quite nicely! I have a few samples on the way, so if you are a client, you may see/smell them when you next visit.

So, where I am in the world of arty things?

I'm emerging! That's where I am. Mother Nature called me yesterday. I popped over to The Newt in Somerset for a walk through the trees. I renewed my membership last month and have made a promise to myself that I'll go over at least every six weeks. It's only 40 minutes away, and the coffee and apple and cinnamon buns are to die for! Rather than ramble on in the written word, here is what happened. It was magical! Right place right time. Between two storms.

Add this to a trip to Glastonbury....

The day before, I popped over to Glasto. Although it's only half and hour away from me, I need to be in the right mood for it. It can be a funny place sometimes. I needed some special incense and a pack of Palosanto - I use this beautiful wood to smudge each piece of work before I add paint and colour. Used like charcoal, it makes beautiful marks while embedding energy with the canvas or paper.

Synchronicity at it's best.....

I wandered in to The Goddess Temple Gifts shop in The Courtyard, to look for a new journal, and found myself looking at the oracle cards, that were out free and easy ready for people to actually feel them.

I have a few packs. Not loads, just four.... because I'm happy with the ones I have, and I don't use them every day. (And yes, before you ask, the pack I have designed, is still 'in progress').

I found myself drawn to the art work on the back of a Gaia pack by Toni Carmine Sallerno. Needing to see how they fitted in my hand, I did a little shuffle, and there was one card in the middle facing the wrong way. That's often a sign that it's THE card for you!

It was Harmony.

Power. Self Confidence and Productivity.

Add this to the power animal - The Deer.

If you watched the video from my walk yesterday, you'll see that I encountered some beautiful deer. I looked up the power animal meaning - this is from Ina Woolcott.

"Deer’s medicine includes gentleness in word, thought and touch. The ability to listen, grace and appreciation for the beauty of balance. Understanding of what’s necessary for survival, power of gratitude and giving, ability to sacrifice for the higher good, connection to the woodland goddess, alternative paths to a goal.

In the Celtic tradition, there are two aspects of deer – female and male. The Hind (the red female deer), called Eilid in the Gaelic language, symbolises femininity, subtlety and gracefulness. The Hind is believed to call to us from the Faery realm, tempting us to release the material trappings of so-called ‘civilisation’, to go deep into the forest of magic, to explore our own magical and spiritual nature."

So, that's where I am.... I have a journal, not a blog. I've felt Mother Nature powerful and strong. She has spoken. She is perfectly ok. Settle back and ride that wave. I have a new piece of work coming along quite nicely..... If you aren't on the mailing list just pop on to the website and fill in the contact box, and you'll see her complete next week.

Until the next entry ...let the storm blow all the stagnated stuff well away! We certainly need it!
