Finding Green Tea
I’ve never liked it. Green tea that is.
I have been stocking a wide range of herbal teas from Pukka Herbs for a while now, and have worked my way through most of them, but the Green Tea has always been my nemesis. I know I should drink it for all its amazing properties, but it’s just so….. odd! An acquired taste, or so I have been told.
I was reluctant to try again, but today I have become a convert! Pukka Herbs have brought out four new teas…all blends of Green. I have tried them all, and I’m most surprised. The Serene Jasmine Green Tea is a little too ‘flowery’ for me but the others are amazing.
Supreme Matcha Green Three green teas blended with Matcha powder.
Clean Green Green tea with lemon, fennel, dandelion and nettle.
Serene Jasmine Green Green tea blended with jasmine, chamomile and lavender
Cool mint green Green tea and Mint, lovely for aiding digestion after dinner.
I am always looking for warming drinks to soothe and warm my core rather than drinking cold water all day. So, I have done a little research on the properties of this ‘Super Drink’. I often hear clients who are receiving treatment for cancer say they have been told that green tea helps. There is no real medical evidence that Green Tea will help reduce the risk of cancer, but due to the very high antioxidant levels anything that improves the immune system and boots circulation isn’t a bad thing. In countries where green tea consumption is high the cancer rates tend to be lower, but it is impossible to know for sure whether it is the green tea that prevents cancer in these specific populations or other lifestyle factors. There are many reports that show that Green Tea can help lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease as well as improving memory and helping instill a feeling of calm.

I didn’t realise that green tea contains a small amount of caffeine (approximately 20-45 milligrams per cup), compared with black tea which contains about 50 milligrams and coffee with 95 milligrams per cup.
This powerful little liquid is considered one of the world’s healthiest drinks and contains the highest amount of antioxidants of any tea. The natural polyphenols in tea are what are thought to provide its anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic effects.
All in all, if you haven’t yet tried it, give it a go. Ask for a free sample when you next visit.
