From an early age – well about 12 – I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a beauty therapist. Not a beautician, that’s different. I wanted this so badly, but teachers told me that I should go into catering because I was very good at cookery. There weren’t courses in beauty therapy in every college, and the only one in the South West was at Weston Super Mare. Three hundred applicants for a 32 place course from as far away as Newquay and Stroud. I had to get in, so I guess
I still haven’t embraced video blogging or Face Book Live. I’m still stuck in the old ways of the I’ve always said, if you don’t like the way I tweet, you won’t like the way I treat, and many of you know, I find twitter a huge help for a small business! As any client knows, you have to feel comfortable with your therapist in order to get the best from your treatment. There has to be professionalism In order for me to make some videos I need to be completely happy with how it’
Is it time to hunker down yet? Not that I’m complaining about our lovely extended sunny days and dry weather. The trees seem to be holding on their leaves, which means just one thing – they will probably drop in one massive dump! I still have apples on my trees and no sign of the leaves changing colour just yet. I’m sure it will just take a cooler snap of weather or a couple of windy days for autumn to finally catch up. I’m not complaining mind you. It’s been a delight to sti
So we are back to the issue of ageing again. It seems to come with age. If you see what I mean. It’s not until you get I really enjoyed my 30s as I was running my salons and building what I thought would be my little empire. I got married in my 30s and moved in to a lovely cottage in the country. I had plans. Five salons by the time I was 40, sell them as a chain and move on. For those of you who have read my book, you will know the story, but the bottom line was that I chang
Why do I use these products? There are stories behind both of these unique ranges, with Repechage having been part of my professional life for nearly 30 years. When I started my first salon back in 1987 the beauty industry was small, and so were the ranges on the market. Other than Clarins and Quinot, there wasn’t really anything for the professional salon to choose from. The bigger story of how I found Repechage and the power of seaweed can be found here on an earlier blog.
This should be the time of year we are thinking about hunkering down. The fires are normally lit by now but we haven’t even brought the wood in doors yet. The summer weight duvet is still on the bed, and I have only worn a hat once so far to walk the dog. This season seems to be extending beyond its usual zone. Leaves are still on the trees and I have cucumbers still hanging on in the greenhouse. I’m sure it is normally colder by now. Not that I’m complaining. It saves heati

I’m rarely asked why I have chosen this product line any more. Clients come to me on trust and many have been with me for quite a few years. Yesterday a potential new client didn’t book as she was surprised at my prices. She didn’t complain, she said she would save up! This made me think that I sometimes forget that my clients, especially new ones don’t know why I chose to stock Repêchage. I didn’t need to justify myself to this new lady, I gave her the information and she ma
