I am complete. I don’t have anything missing, I just needed a make-over. And I don’t mean I needed my hair done or new nails. More like a re-boot make over, like a car having a service. I just needed the time. Time that I would never ever have taken off if it hadn’t been for Covid19. An enforced sabbatical, which at the start was a huge worry. A worry over money, and a worry that I would lose all that I had built up over the last thirty years. I didn’t worry so much about not
What an incredible few days! Who would have thought a year ago I would be holding my debut exhibition? Things have moved so quickly it’s incredible. If you have been a follower of mine for a while, you will know that this is a natural progression from the healing work I already do, but not to worry, I am still working one to one with clients. Both ways of working go hand in hand together. The preview night on Wednesday was everything and more. Such a lovely buzz with people a
‘Who does all the art?’ Asked a client I treated yesterday, as he looked at the gallery wall. A client who is not subscribed to the newsletter, and has no interest in any social media, so how would he know? Me. It’s my art. Now that shocked him a bit. Then came the questions:
How long have I painted?
Where do I paint?
How do I do it?
When do I find the time? When I explained that I work with energy and embed it in the painting, that was probably a little too weird for hi
It wasn’t that long ago we were all stuck at home because of the snow. I remember it well, as I had the non-holiday! – although this did enable me to start a new project, so all wasn’t lost. There is always an upside….. well, most of the time. We are now enjoying a real heatwave – a summer where we have brown grass and empty water butts. Farmers are crying out for rain, there is a hosepipe ban in parts of the country – although I’ve never really understood why people water th
Sometimes we think we may have strayed from our path, just because we aren’t achieving the things we think we should be. Social media is partly responsible for this, but we have always as a human race, often wanted what others have. The grass always being greener and all that jazz. Your pathway is individual although it may often look the same as another. Your path is unique. Just as your mannerisms and fingerprints are unique.
Your path in life will often cross another pers
Music moves you, it makes you weep. Some gives you goosebumps. Drums call people together, chimes give focus, and the sounds in nature restore and heal you. Sound therapy is a huge subject, and one I have always been interested in. It only seems right that sound is used in healing therapies, whether it is peaceful resonance music during a treatment, the use of singing bowls to mark the end of a healing session, or a full on gong bath on a retreat. Whatever rings your bell, (e
I’ve been to a reunion. Well, not a big reunion, just seven of us, but still a reunion as three of the girls I hadn’t seen for about 25 years or more. We were all the same. Just older. Essentially the same people but different. Time changes people. We grow, we evolve and we shift, but we are still the same person we were 30 years ago. We just have different ideas and stories to tell. Some have had babies – one has had FOUR! Others have no children but dogs! That’s me, obvious
Everyone needs some time away from what they do. Time for a reboot and recharge. For me, all I need is some time by the sea and a massage. A good massage. Well, actually a full blown Ayurvedic spa experience! This was my destination of choice last week. We found The Scarlet Hotel in Cornwall last year, and I vowed to make an annual trip. Remember this is where I discovered granola! It’s only a couple of hours from us. Far enough to feel like you are on holiday, but close eno
I keep talking about it. Do we really drink enough throughout our busy days? Hydration is so important. I find that I am more hydrated on the days I work with clients. I pour a glass for them, and pour one for myself. As an energy worker, I must stay hydrated in order to hold light/energy/vibration. And so should you. On my days off, I don’t drink as much, and the following day, I have more joint pain, my digestion is compromised and I realise what is wrong, but by then it’s
We live in a physical world, in our human bodies, and we need to have balance. We are always hearing about how we are spiritual beings having a human experience. In order to have this experience and enjoy it to the full, we need to look after both sides. The physical and the emotional. We need balance. We are human. Look after your physical self. In order for you to explore the world we live in, you must look after the body you walk in. Eat well and nourish yourself with food
Playing on the ipad while in flight. I’m a bit slow on the use of the iPad. The intention was to start a blog post while on a flight from Bristol to Salzburg last Saturday, but I found this little colouring tool. I didn’t have a stylus, obviously, so it’s a bit rustic, and I was in flight! I tried to draw mountains but that didn’t work so well. The colouring distraction meant I could write this blog on the way back, after I had some more interesting content! Funny how things
Is it time to hunker down yet? Not that I’m complaining about our lovely extended sunny days and dry weather. The trees seem to be holding on their leaves, which means just one thing – they will probably drop in one massive dump! I still have apples on my trees and no sign of the leaves changing colour just yet. I’m sure it will just take a cooler snap of weather or a couple of windy days for autumn to finally catch up. I’m not complaining mind you. It’s been a delight to sti
Why do I use these products? There are stories behind both of these unique ranges, with Repechage having been part of my professional life for nearly 30 years. When I started my first salon back in 1987 the beauty industry was small, and so were the ranges on the market. Other than Clarins and Quinot, there wasn’t really anything for the professional salon to choose from. The bigger story of how I found Repechage and the power of seaweed can be found here on an earlier blog.
I had an interesting conversation with my massage therapist the other day of how long it takes for new clients to really ‘receive’ a massage. We just take it for granted as therapists that a client will know what to do. When I completed my training back in the 80s, we had no extra information other than how to prepare the couch and the room. There was no guidance on breath, how to be mindful, and how to ‘allow’ yourself as a client to receive a massage. How things have change
La Stone. Not ‘L.A’ Stones as I find it often referred. People assume it has something to do with Hollywood, but it’s actually due to as a ‘translation error’. The founder of this amazing system of thermotherapy massage and healing, Mary Neslon, is dyslexic and wrote ‘La Stone’ instead of THE Stone. It stuck. It’s not French either! I have been offering this incredible treatment for the past 15 years and it just gets better and better. Not just a massage. A real experience. O
For those of you who have read my book, you will understand what is meant by a ‘Light Bulb Moment’. Some may call it an ‘Ah ha’ moment…. I like the light bulb analogy as I can see it! I’ve always had them. Little moments. Until I was in my 30’s, they went pretty much unnoticed, until I looked back on my life as a whole while writing the book, then I realised how many I actually had. Part of life. Part of growth and very much part of a ‘journey’ if I chose to stop, take a mom
